Stock Market Updates: Sensex, Nifty Rise; Jio Financial Hits Rs 2 Lakh Cr Marketcap; Vodafone up 12%

The Indian stock market was trading in the green but off the day’s high. At 12:32 PM, Sensex gained 107 points at 73,265.80 while Nifty added 36 points at 22,253.85.

Around 1468 stocks advanced and 963 declined while 97 stocks remained unchanged.

Among the sectors, buying was seen in the media space which added 1 percent. It was followed by Pharma, Auto, and Realty which added half a percent each. On the other hand, selling was seen in the oil & gas and PSU Bank index.

Jio Financial Services: up 10.91%

Jio Financial Services Ltd’s market capitalization surpassed Rs 2 lakh crore for the first time. This was propelled by a 35 percent increase in its share price this year. In the December quarter earnings, Jio Financial announced a net profit of Rs 293 crore and a net interest income of Rs 269 crore. The company recorded a total interest income of Rs 414 crore and total revenue of Rs 413 crore.

Vodafone Idea: up 12.27%

In the last 2 days, the share price of Vodafone Idea has surged over 18 percent. This surge is a response to an announcement from the telecom operator that its board of directors will convene on February 27 to evaluate all proposals for raising funds. The options under consideration include conducting a rights issue, making a further public offer, engaging in a private placement of shares (including preferential allotment), qualified institution placement, or utilizing any other permissible mode.
