The Indian stock market ended the session on January 19, 2024, on a positive note snapping the 3-day losing streak. At close, Sensex jumped 541 points at 71728 while Nifty gained 160 points and ended the session at 21622 level.

Around 1690 stocks advanced and 832 declined while 98 stocks remained unchanged.

All sectoral indices ended in the green with auto, capital goods, Information Technology, FMCG, metal, oil & gas and power up 1-2 percent each.

Asian markets end up mixed

Most Asian markets ended in the green barring the Hang Seng index which shed 0.54 percent. Japan’s Nikkei was up 1.38 percent at 35,963 while Kospi gained 1.32 percent at 2,472.

European markets trade higher

European shares rose on January 19, boosted by gains in financials, although the benchmark index remained on course for a weekly decline after investors tempered their rate-cut expectations. The pan-European STOXX 600 index was up 0.4 percent. FTSE added 0.49 percent at 7,495 while CAC was up 0.1 percent at 7,408. German DAX gained 0.18 percent at the 16,596 mark.
