Stock Market at Close: Sensex, Nifty Rise; Telecom, Power, Oil & Gas Jump 3% Each

The Indian stock market ended on a positive note on March 14, 2024. At close, Sensex was up 335 points at 73,097.28 while Nifty added 149 points and ended the session at 22,146.65.

Around 2,722 stocks advanced and 1,153 declined while 83 stocks remained unchanged.

Except for bank, all other sectoral indices ended in the green with telecom, power, oil & gas adding 3 percent each, while auto, capital goods, FMCG, Information Technology, healthcare and metal up 1-2 percent.

Asian Markets End Up Mixed

Asia-Pacific markets were mixed on Thursday after Wall Street’s tech-fueled rally dissipated, with investors focused on Japan’s spring wage negotiations and India’s wholesale inflation data, according to a CNBC.com report.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 reversed losses to rise 0.29%, while the broad-based Topix saw a larger gain of 0.30%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index lost 0.83% after climbing earlier in the day.

European Markets Edge Higher

Major European markets were trading mostly in the green on March 14, 2024. France’s CAC was up 0.83 percent at 8,204.54 while German DAX added 0.24 percent at 18,007.43. FTSE slipped 0.08 percent at 7,766.12.
