Stock Market at Close: Sensex, Nifty End Higher Led by Metals, Realty; Tata Steel, M&M Top Gainers

The Indian stock market ended in the green on March 18, 2024. At close, Sensex was up 104 points at 72,748.42 while Nifty added 32 points and ended the session at 22,055.70.

Around 2,009 stocks advanced and 1,930 declined while 117 stocks remained unchanged.

Among the sectors, capital goods, healthcare, auto, realty, metal, and media were up 0.5-3 percent, while IT and FMCG slipped 0.5-1.5 percent.

Asian Markets End Higher

Japan’s Nikkei 225 index led gains in Asia-Pacific markets on Monday, while China shares extended gains after data showed its economy kicked off the year on a strong note. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 2.67% higher at 39,740.44. The Topix climbed 1.92% to close at 2,721.99. South Korea’s Kospi ended 0.72% higher at 2,685.84, according to a CNBC.com report.

European Markets Trade Flat

The pan-European Stoxx 600 was flat in early trade, with sectors trading in mixed territory. FTSE added 0.08 percent at 7,733.63 while CAC was up 0.09 percent at 8,172.08. German DAX gained 0.26 percent at 17,984.03.
