The Indian stock market ended on a flat note on March 20, 2024. At close, Sensex was up 89 points at 72,101.69 while Nifty added 21 points and ended the session at 21,839.10.
Around 1,608 stocks advanced and 2,183 declined while 112 stocks remained unchanged.
Among the sectors, Auto, FMCG, Realty, oil & gas, and Power were up 0.5-1 percent each, while metal shed almost 1 percent.

Asia-Pacific markets rose as investors digested the Bank of Japan’s landmark shift in monetary policy while awaiting the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index was up 0.3% in the last hour of trade, while the mainland Chinese CSI 300 rose about 0.22% to close at 3,585.38.
In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.1% to close at 7,695.8, a day after the country’s central bank held rates at 4.35% for the third meeting in a row. South Korea’s Kospi climbed 1.28% to 2,690.14, according to a CNBC.com report.
European markets were lower Wednesday as investors await the latest monetary policy decision from the US Federal Reserve. The pan-European Stoxx 600 was 0.2% lower. FTSE slipped 0.16 percent at 7,725.69 while CAC was down 0.54 percent at 8,156.57. German DAX was up 0.19 percent at 18,021.45.
