The Indian stock market ended on a flat note amid volatility on March 12, 2024. At close, Sensex was up 165 points at 73,667.96 while Nifty added 3 points and ended the session at 22,335.70.
Around 673 stocks advanced and 3,220 declined while 74 stocks remained unchanged.
On the sectoral front, except IT all other indices ended in the red with the realty index down almost 3.5 percent. PSU Bank and Media indices shed 2 percent each, while capital goods, FMCG, healthcare, metal, and power indices shed 1 percent each.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose over 3% to lead gains in Asia-Pacific markets and was set to extend its winning streak to three days, while mainland China’s CSI 300 rose 0.23% to close at 3,597.49, according to a CNBC.com report.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 slipped for a second straight day, losing 0.06% and closing at 38,797.51. The broad-based Topix was down 0.36% and ended at 2,657.24.
European markets opened higher Tuesday as global investors await the latest US inflation report. The Stoxx 600 index shook off some of Monday’s negativity to trade 0.44% higher at the open. FTSE was up 1 percent at 7,751.22 while CAC added 0.1 percent at 8,027.70. German DAX was up 0.35 percent at 17,806.48.
