Sensex, Nifty End in Green Amid Volatility; Banks, Capital Goods, Metals Shine

The Indian stock market ended in the green amid volatility. At close, Sensex added 195 points at 72,500.30 while Nifty gained 31 points at 21,982.80.

Around 1,399 stocks advanced and 1141 stocks declined while 93 stocks remained unchanged.

On the sectoral front, except healthcare, all other indices ended in the green with bank, capital goods, metal, and power adding 0.5-1 percent.

Asian Markets

Asia-Pacific stocks traded ended mixed on February 29, 2024, as investors awaited US inflation data for clues on the Federal Reserve’s interest rate path. Kospi was down 0.38 percent at 2,642.36 while Nikkei shed 0.11 percent at 39,166.19. Hang Seng slipped 0.15 percent to 16,511.44.

European Markets

European shares opened slightly higher on Thursday, led by gains in materials stocks, while investors brace for key US inflation data to gauge the outlook on global interest rate cuts. The pan-European STOXX 600 was up 0.2 percent, according to a Reuters report.

At 16:19 Hours IST, FTSE added 0.2 percent at 7,640.07 while CAC gained 0.08 percent at 7,960.86. German DAX gained 0.46 percent at 17,682.75.
