Stock Market at Close: Sensex Rises, Nifty Ends Above 22,500; HDFC Bank, Titan Top Gainers

The Indian stock market ended in the green on April 4, 2024 amid volatility. At close, Sensex added 350 points at 74,227.63 while Nifty ended the session at 22,514.65, up 80 points.

Among the sectors, Bank, Power, Information Technology were up 0.5-1 percent, while PSU Bank and Oil & Gas index shed 0.7-1.6 percent.

Around 2,461 stocks advanced and 1,387 declined while 99 stocks remained unchanged.

Asian Markets

Asia-Pacific markets rebounded following a sell-off in the previous session, as investors digest comments from US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. South Korea’s Kospi soared 1.29% to end at 2,742 and lead gains in Asia, while the small cap Kosdaq was up 0.33% to 882.9. Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.81% and crossed the 40,000 mark during the session, although it later fell and ended at 39,773.14. The broad-based Topix rose 0.94% to end at 2,732, according to a CNBC.com report.

European Markets

European stocks climbed on Thursday with investors awaiting an inflation print and minutes from the European Central Bank’s latest meeting, while shares of Basilea jumped following the US regulatory approval for the drugmaker’s bacterial therapy, according to a Reuters report.

FTSE added 0.4 percent at 7,969.62 while CAC was trading flat at 8,155.84. German DAX was also trading flat at 18,368.60.
